Commitment to sustainability

As a global life science leader that innovates technologies to improve laboratory processes and drive workflow efficiencies, sustainability is woven into the fabric of everything we do.

What Sustainability Means to Us

Sustainability at Advanced Instruments is embedded into every facet of our business. We are fully committed to:

  • Manufacturing safe and sustainable products
  • Minimizing our impact on our environmental footprint
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Fostering the well-being and addressing the needs of our employees, stakeholders, and customers
  • Upholding the highest standards of integrity

As a participant in the UN Global Compact, Advanced Instruments is committed to the UN’s Ten Principles of corporate sustainability. We conduct our business based on the universal principles of human rights, free and fair labor, healthy environment, and anti-corruption, and we expect our suppliers to adhere to these principles as well.

Our Mission in Action

We are continuously implementing sustainability concepts in our processes and facility infrastructure in the form of energy-efficient measures, increasing the use of electricity from renewable energy sources, expanding recycling programs, and installing electric vehicle chargers and water bottle filling stations. We maintain an emphasis on including sustainability considerations in the technologies we create for our customers. Approximately 95% of the electricity used at Advanced Instruments’ facilities is generated from renewable energy sources.

Our latest technologies are engineered to promote long-term viability in laboratory practices while simultaneously decreasing the risks associated with performing laboratory tasks. We are minimizing resource consumption, reducing waste generation, and using less packaging as our products and processes continue to evolve. For example, our newest osmometer model, the OsmoPRO MAX, does not require the use of disposable, single-use test cups.

We have been accounting for Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and have been reporting our sustainability metrics according to the European Commission’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and corresponding European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). These metrics are included in the Investor AB Annual Report.
