Neonatal Bilirubin Testing

Bring accurate and reliable total and direct neonatal bilirubin testing to any facility. Having testing on-site allows families to come straight to you instead of needing to go to the hospital, especially during a pandemic.

What is The Risk of Neonatal Bilirubin?

Neonatal bilirubin is a yellow breakdown product of normal heme catabolism in newborns. Its levels are elevated in certain diseases and responsible for the yellow color of bruises. Excessive bilirubin damages developing brain cells in infants (kernicterus) and may cause mental retardation, learning and developmental disabilities, hearing loss, or eye movement problems. It is important that bilirubin levels in newborns not get too high. When the level of bilirubin is above a critical threshold, special treatments are initiated to lower it.

Principle of Operation

Our Model BR2 Bilirubin Stat-Analyzer measures Total Bilirubin (TBR) and Direct Bilirubin (Azobilirubin) absorbance quantitatively per deciliter. It determines total bilirubin by spectrophotometric analysis and direct bilirubin using a modified version of the proven Malloy-Evelyn method.

Easy to Use Testing With Trusted Results.

Our BR2 Bilirubin Stat Analyzer and Bilirubin Test Kit’s compact, portable design easily fit into any facility, whether it is a dedicated medical lab or a pediatrician’s office, and the low 30 µL sample volume requirement facilitates analysis of samples from neonates.
